My first ride with clipless pedals

Yesterday I went to a local high school and rode around the parking lot to get used to clipping in and out of the pedals.

On the way there, I realized that I could practice just clipping in and out with one pedal at a time (it’s a little embarrassing that this hadn’t occurred to me at first). Knowing that I wouldn’t have to clip both feet in right away made me feel much better.

It was actually a lot easier and not nearly as scary as I thought it would be.

I also quickly learned that I didn’t have to clip out of both pedals every time I stop.

This morning I headed down to Scottsville again.

I clipped out of my pedals before I came to the dogs that always chase me, which I think was a good decision.

Other than that, it was a pleasant and uneventful ride.

  1. That looks like a gorgeous place to ride, and I’m glad the new shoes/pedal situation is going well! That turtle is t-i-n-y!! How did you even spot him??
